Project Description
The Practice was engaged to upgrade and extend the existing school to accommodate a pre 5 unit to serve the Ross of Mull. A single storey pitched roof extension provided a staffroom and classroom with slate roof and Cedar timber clad external walls to compliment the traditional stone gabled buildings.
The procurement constraints required a winter working period on-site and a lightweight timber and glulam structure were chosen to allow off-site manufacture to minimise the effects of weather disruption on this remote site. This allowed the facility to be completed and opened ahead of the Easter term as planned.
